Liby Lougué

Biography

Born in 1987 in Burkina Faso, Liby Ousmane Lougué is a painter living and working in Burkina Faso. Son of an artist father, Lougué began the art of painting during his childhood, he created comics and small portraits which he sold to his friends. This passion for painting developed over time and in 2008 he met Hamed Ouattara, a Burkinabé painter and designer. The two men collaborate and work together. However, his meeting with the artist Hamed Ouattara did not influence Lougué's art.

Liby Lougué is inspired by and claims her admiration for the work of Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960 - 1988). Just like Basquiat, Liby Lougué's works reflect his identity.

The artist uses painting to express his pain, his feelings and his vision of the world and our society. The explosion of colors expresses the ills of our society. His works are exhibited all over the world and more precisely in Africa, Asia and Europe.
